About client

A fast-growing U.S.-based company specializing in residential and commercial property assessments reached out to us to modernize their reporting workflows. Their teams faced growing challenges: outdated tools slowed down inspections, made collaboration between field inspectors and architects inefficient, and led to inconsistencies in final reports. They needed a digital solution to improve documentation speed, ensure standardized outputs, and reduce time spent on repetitive tasks.

Our collaboration focused on deeply understanding their reporting pain points — from manual data entry to difficulties with photo handling — and building a roadmap to solve these issues with a tailored web-based inspection system.

About project

Derma is a custom inspection reporting platform designed to address broader challenges in architectural and property assessment workflows. Built specifically for firms managing structural inspections, it enables quick generation of high-quality PDF reports with photo annotations, structured data input, and customizable evaluation logic.

With its modular infrastructure, real-time input interface, and version control features, Derma empowers users to standardize their reporting process, improve team efficiency, and eliminate redundant manual tasks. The platform is flexible enough to serve both small architectural studios and enterprise-level inspection firms seeking long-term productivity gains

Solution

To address the client's operational challenges, we delivered a comprehensive web-based inspection platform built specifically for architectural and construction reporting needs. Our process began with in-depth consultations with architects and inspectors to gather detailed functional and non-functional requirements. This ensured the platform would align with real-world workflows and industry-specific standards.

We designed a modular and scalable architecture using Next.js to support future growth and system flexibility. The user interface was developed with an emphasis on usability and clarity, combining HTML, CSS, and D3-based interactive visualizations for dynamic data representation in reports. To support payment processing and monetization, we integrated Stripe, allowing secure handling of subscriptions and one-time payments for report access.

To ensure reliable data management and smooth user interactions, we implemented Redux for robust state management. Once development was complete, we conducted full-cycle testing and optimization, resulting in a stable, high-performance platform. The deployment included real-time monitoring tools and feedback channels to support continuous improvement based on actual user behavior

Result

The custom building inspection software we developed led to a substantial increase in operational efficiency for the client’s architectural teams. By combining a user-friendly reporting interface with professional-grade features—such as custom evaluation criteria, visual photo annotation, and dynamic floor plan generation—the platform empowered users to create accurate, comprehensive inspection reports with minimal effort.

Thanks to the streamlined workflow and built-in automation, architects were able to reduce manual reporting tasks by up to 63%, significantly accelerating project turnaround time. The integrated PDF generation engine further enhanced document quality and consistency, allowing firms to deliver polished, data-rich reports to clients and regulators in a fraction of the usual time.

As a result, the Derma platform became a central tool for improving productivity, accuracy, and decision-making across the property inspection process — particularly in enterprise environments where timely delivery of standardized reports is essential for client satisfaction and regulatory compliance
